Born June 5, 1964 in San Antonio, Tx, Rick Riordan lives in California with his wife and his two sons.
Rick Riordan is a multi-award winning author who is best known for his adult mystery series, Tres Navarre, and his juvenile fiction series Percy Jackson and the Olympians.
Riordan started writing as a young adult and attempted to publish a few short stories without success, but eventually published his first novel, Red Tequila, in 1997. The Tres Navarre series was well recieved, and Riordan was awarded the Edgar, the Anthony, and the Shamus awards.
The idea for the Percy Jackson series came to Riordan after he ran out of Greek mythologies to read to his son for bed time. A disappointed Haley then requested more, and so began the modern day tales of a dyslexic teen, who with the help of his friends, saves the world time and time again.
