Summer Reading 2019: Home

    Hello Everyone!

It's that time of year again for Summer Reading! At Helen Hall Library, we offer programs for Adults, Teens, Tweens, and Kids. All programs begin on June 3rd and run until July 26th. This year's theme for the Summer Reading program is "A Universe of Stories!" Please browse our information below to find the right program for you, sign up, and get started earning awesome prizes. Stay cool and have fun!

Entry Form

  • Sign-up information is filled out on the summer reading entry form
  • Reading Log

Prizes

  • Universe of Books Tote Bag
  • Drawings are held each week on the following Monday

Entry

  • There is no limit to how many times a patrons can enter on a weekly basis; however, each entry must be a separate book (no repeats!)

Requirements

  • Readers must be 18 years or older
  • Each entry form is equivalent to one book read; this must be completed before turning in your form


Logs

  • Sign-up information is filled out on the first reading log
  • There are four reading logs
  • Please note: Only official Helen Hall Library reading logs will be accepted
  • Reading Log #1

Prizes

  • Level 1: Supernova Swag Bag
  • Level 2: Deep-Space Duck
  • Level 3: Galaxy Slime
  • Level 4: $5.00 Half-Price Books gift card

Entry

  • Each reading log can be filled out and handed in once per teen (four levels = four logs total per teen)

Requirements

  • Readers must be 6th - 12th grade (or entering 6th grade Fall 2019)
  • Each reading log is equivalent to ten hours of reading

Logs

  • Sign-up information is filled out on the first reading log
  • There are four reading logs
  • The first reading log is gold; the second - fourth are yellow
  • Reading Log #1

Prizes*

  • Level 1:Tote Bag filled with - reading certificate, bookmark, pencil, stickers, and free food/activity coupons (vendors could include Putt-Putt, Fun City Sk8, Menchie's, etc.)
  • Level 2: Galaxy Slime
  • Level 3: Space Themed Sunglasses
  • Level 4: Astronaut Trophy

Entry

  • Each reading log can be filled out and handed in once per child (four levels - four reading logs per child)

Requirements

  • Readers must be 0 - 5th grade
  • If you read to your child, each log is equivalent to twenty books; if your child is reading on his/her own, each log is equivalent to five hours of reading; either must be completed before turning in your log


Teens

Teen Volunteer Application

Applications are accepted on a first come first serve basis. All applications are reviewed by the Volunteer Coordinator. Selected volunteers will be notified with information for the mandatory training/orientation. Returning volunteers will not need to reapply but must speak with the Volunteer Coordinator to update availability and will need to attend the training as some processes have changed.

Our teen volunteer program offers a job-like experience though our special task teams: COST (Content, Outreach, Systems, and Tutoring)


Adults

Adult Volunteer Application

Our adult volunteer program is flexible and is always actively seeking committed adults to help mentor and spear head upcoming projects! Applications are available at the Adult Reference Desk or online via the PDF link above. This program is for anyone 18 and over.
