What is Kanopy?
Kanopy is a streaming service that allows you to watch digital copies of your favorite movies, documentaries, The Great Courses, and PBS Kids. All you need is a Helen Hall Library card to get started with Kanopy. If you don't have your library card yet, please click here to get started. Kanopy can be viewed on your computer, mobile phone, tablet, and streaming devices such as Apple TV, Roku, Chromecast, and FireTV. Download the Kanopy app from your device's app store or visit Kanopy online to begin watching award winning cinema!
Monthly Play Credits
Each month you will receive 6 play credits automatically uploaded to your account that reset at the beginning of the month. Each film either has a 48 or 72 hour viewing window, which allows you to watch the film or TV series as many times as you would like during that window. Remaining viewing time can be found under "My Lists > Continue Watching". Additionally, patrons have unlimited viewing credits for Kanopy Kids titles and access to one The Great Courses each month.
Fines
Kanopy is a free service provided by the library. Since all materials are automatically removed from your account when they are due, there are no late fees/fines that you can get through Kanopy.
Why do I need a library card to use Kanopy?
Kanopy is a service that is only available to library users. Visit leaguecity.kanopy.com and enter your library card number to begin streaming.
Can I place a hold on items in Kanopy?
No, all items are available to watch at any time with zero wait, as long as you have monthly credits left!
Can I download movies to watch on the go?
Unfortunately, movies and series on Kanopy cannot be downloaded for offline viewing. An internet connection is required to stream on Kanopy.
Who decides what movies and series are available on Kanopy?
Content on Kanopy is available based on partnerships Kanopy makes with movie studios/distributors. Helen Hall Library staff are not able to take purchase requests to be added to the streaming service.
