Dir. James Mangold (trailer)

Simply put, Ford V Ferrari is quite possibly the perfect film. Thrilling and entertaining, director James Mangold has created a beautiful story of friendship based around the true story of Ken Miles and Carrol Shelby's attempt to beat Ferrari with a Ford at the 1966 24 Hours of Le Mans race. Both Matt Damon and Christian Bale are at their best in this film, each turning in heartfelt and funny performances that help take the film to the next level.

The film tells the incredible story of the battle between Ford and Ferrari motor companies at the '66 Le Mans 24 hour race in France. In an effort to increase sales and push their image into a new era, Ford decides to enter against Ferrari. Although they hire Shelby to head the team in charge of building a car to beat Ferrari, many players inside the Ford company attempt to thwart his plans, especially due to his loyalty to the hot-tempered Ken Miles.

Mangold films this movie in a stunning and natural way, blending practical stunt driving with necessary CGI to create a realistic view of racing. You will often find yourself forgetting that Christian Bale is not actually flying down the raceway behind the wheel of the car. Mixed with a stunning soundtrack and period-accurate clothing, the film transports you back to the 1960s and shows the divisions between the old guard at Ford and the new guys (Shelby and Miles) willing to take risks.

I recommend Ford v Ferrari to anyone who loves movies, there is something in this film for everyone from thrilling action to heartwarming familial scenes.  This is one of the best movies I've seen in a long time and am confident that you all will love it too!
