by Emory Dunn on 2020-11-09T11:00:00-06:00 | 0 Comments

Dir. Ari Aster (trailer)

Director Ari Aster's film debut Hereditary has definitely left a mark on audiences since it's release in 2018. Bringing a whole new style to the horror/thriller film genre, Hereditary will bring you into it's world and stick with you long after you see it. With a career best performance from Toni Collette as the mother slowly descending into madness, you will want to rewatch this movie over and over again to notice something new every time.

Focusing on the Graham family after the passing of their mysterious grandmother, the family begins to fall apart as multiple traumatic events happen over the course of the film. As Annie (Collette) begins to discover that her deceased mother practiced strange rituals that may now be affecting their family, she tries desperately to save her family and herself. From the very beginning of the film, it is clear that this family is different from most, especially their daughter Charlie who enjoys doodling strange images in her journal and creating Frankenstein-esque dolls. Once further tragedy strikes the family, the story really begins to take shape and will keep you on the edge of your seat the entire time.

Fans of recent dramatic horror releases will surely enjoy this film and Ari Aster's work, including his newest release Midsommar.
