Teen Services: Welcome

Welcome to Teen Services

Here you can find our teen collections, reading list suggestions, programs, homework help, resources, and information about college and career. Helen Hall Library's mission "is to provide free access to information and fuel for imagination in an age defined by the unprecedented importance of both." In keeping with this mission, we value teens and provide them with their own space and programming so that they have the freedom to express themselves safely.

Our Services

Personalized Recommendations
Do you want more of a particular type of book? Are you wanting to try something new but don't know where to start? Do you not have time to browse for a book? Our Teen Services Librarian offers personalized book recommendations just for you! There are various ways to get personalized recommendations to fit everyone's needs:

  • Visit the library to talk to our librarian about your book preferences (it is recommended to call or email ahead to set up a meeting time). She will keep selecting books for you to look over until you find the perfect one!
  • Call or email our librarian with your book preferences, and she will respond with book recommendations and descriptions. She can also put the ones you would like on hold for you.
  • Join Teen Book Box! Available in our spring and fall semesters, Teen Book Box offers monthly boxes filled with treats and a book selected just for you. All you need is a Library card and to fill out a registration form on our Teen Programs page that tells our librarian your book preferences.

Programs & Events
Join us for awesome activities just for teens, ages 12-18. Our programs and events range from gaming tournaments to anime show binges to after-hours in the library. The best part: they are always free!
Interested in hosting a program or event for other teens? Contact our Teen Services Librarian so you can plan and discuss details. The teens who lead select teen programs are Teen Advisory Board members, so it is recommended to attend a meeting to learn more.

Of course, we have books for fun and research! But we also have video games, board games, audiobooks, movies and TV shows, music CDs, e-books and e-audiobooks, and online databases. Your library card can get you a lot more than just books!
We also offer the Teen Room, a library space just for teens! There are dry-erase tables for homework and doodling, six computers, and space to just hang out with friends.

We provide WiFi, computers and laptops, printers, and Chat with a Librarian online.

Don't forget to follow us on social media to find out about events, updates, and more!
